Restaurant websites need to be ADA compliant, which is mandated by law to ensure that people with disabilities may freely access and use websites. Although the ADA is crucial, no website can be 100% compliant because functionality, branding, and accessibility all need to be balanced in the website design. Our website design follows a set of guidelines to achieve that balance.
Here are the guidelines:
Use descriptive alt tags for images: Provide alt tags that describe the content of each image on your website. This will assist individuals using screen readers to understand the images and their relevance to the page.
Add captions for videos and transcripts for audio: If you have videos or audio on your website, provide captions or transcripts to ensure that those who are deaf or hard of hearing can access the content.
Choose clear and easy-to-read fonts: Select fonts that are easy to read and provide sufficient contrast with the background. This helps individuals with visual impairments to read the text on your website.
Ensure keyboard accessibility: Consider the needs of people with physical disabilities who rely on a keyboard to navigate the web. Ensure that your website can be accessed and navigated using only a keyboard.
Provide clear and concise instructions: Make sure that instructions on your website are easy to understand, concise and clear. This helps individuals with cognitive disabilities or language barriers to understanding the content more easily.
Accessibility tool: For better readability, users can Increase or Decrease Text size, can choose Readable Font and make Links Underline. To have a better view of the website Users can change it to Grayscale, change it to High Contrast or Negative Contrast and can make it a Light Background.
We are constantly researching and implementing ADA best practices and incorporating into restaurant website design.
